Choosing Devices for Interview Recordings
Many people today have to conduct interviews for different purposes. Sometimes, interviews are needed for the purpose of research, sometimes for media releases, and for many other purposes like these. There are different methods of gathering the data you get from interviews. Mostly used methods are to either write down the interviews or record them.
Why Should You Record Interviews?
As already mentioned; you can obtain the interview data and store it for a longer period of time in many ways. Nevertheless, recording is always preferred over writing the interview data down. Below are few most common reasons as to why recording interviews are better than any other option available for gathering the data.
- The recording is way easier than writing and any other data storage method for that matter. All you have to do is to hold a recording device and ask questions.
- Recording interviews can give you the exact amount of data with each and every word that the speaker has spoken. On the other hand, if you write it down you are obvious to miss many small details and important points.
- Recording, when heard to after the interview is done, can also give us an idea about the intonation and tone patterns of the interviewee that can be used to analyze a deeper picture.
- During recording, the interviewer has a direct focus of attention towards the interviewee that helps him answer better.
These recordings, however, should be done very carefully and attentively as even the smallest of mistake can ruin the whole input and effort you and the interviewee have placed into conducting a thoughtful session with valuable outcomes. To save yourself from this trouble, make sure to choose the perfect device for your recording.
